Slip and slide
It's quite clear -- from what just happened -- that the dirt around the plate isn't quite dry.
Jed Lowrie just slipped coming out of the box on a little checked swing bouncer to shortstop. It might not have been a double play had he stayed up.
That could have been even bigger as David Ortiz just barely stretched a single into a double, pulling up at second base just before the throw. Looks like that could mean his knee is feeling a bit better tonight.
