Sox accept Orioles giveaway, 5-2

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff May 30, 2008 11:53 PM

Freddie Bynum's throwing error, the third error made by the Orioles in the 13th, allowed two more runs to score--Kevin Youkilis had followed Mike Lowell's RBI single with an infield hit, and the runners moved up on a double steal.
That gave the Sox a 5-2 lead--all three runs were unearned--and Jonathan Papelbon closed out the O's for his first save in eight days, striking out Brian Roberts to end it.
Sox stole a club record six bases.
Time of game: 4 hours 49 minutes.,
