Sox chipping away

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 13, 2008 09:57 PM

BALTIMORE - After a frustrating seventh inning when Manny Ramirez knocked into a 1-2-3 bases-loaded double-play, the Sox have rallied again in the eighth.

A pair of one-out walks to Jacoby Ellsbury and Jason Varitek set up an Alex Cora RBI single. Now, Orioles' closer George Sherrill has come into the game to face Sean Casey, who has moved into Coco Crisp's leadoff spot after Crisp left the game with an upset stomach. Casey lined out hard to left and Dustin Pedroia grounded to first as the Sox stranded two more runners.

It's 5-4 Orioles.
