Sox crushing Livan

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 12, 2008 07:18 PM

The Red Sox have thumped Livan Hernandez pretty hard here in the first inning, scoring three times on four hits. Even their outs have been hard-hit.

Manny Ramirez, returning to the lineup after tweaking his hamstring Saturday and only pinch hitting in Sunday's game, homered to right field with David Ortiz aboard. Coco Crisp had led off the inning with a double off the baggie in right. After Dustin Pedroia advanced him to third with a sacrifice bunt, Ortiz took a Hernandez splitter and stroked it to the left side in to the shortstop hole for a single, scoring Crisp.

It's 3-0 as we get ready for the bottom of the first with Clay Buchholz on the mound.
