OAKLAND, Calif. - Javy Lopez's first offering to lefthanded-hitting Jack Cust was deposited into the left-center-field bleachers, with pinch runner Gregorio Petit aboard in the seventh. It's now 6-3 Oakland.

Craig Hansen had been effective in relief of Jon Lester, pitching through the sixth, and had two outs with one on in the seventh before Terry Francona decided to bring in the lefty to pitch to Cust. It was the left fielder's eighth homer.
