Sox lead; still trying to deal Tavarez

BALTIMORE - The Red Sox are still trying to deal Julian Tavarez and are talking to "two or three" teams according to a major league source. Tavarez was designated for assignment on May 12. The Sox have always been willing to eat most of Tavarez' $3.85 million salary.

If they can't make a deal Tavarez will go through waivers and can either become a free-agent or accept a Triple-A assignment with Boston if offered.

The Sox took a 1-0 lead in the first on Dustin Pedroia's RBI single scoring Jacoby Ellsbury, who reached on an infield hit and stole second base, his 15th of the season.

  1. I would prefer for Julian to get traded to another team and don't expect a triple a assignment because he has been in the major league for 15 years why should he go to the minors for.

  1. Are all you guys freakin idiots. Even thiough Tavarez has been in the majors for so long he has never been a good pitcher. He is in the same league as Timlin and Gagne. I wouldn't want him trying to save a game for me, I'd rather have my 7 year old pitch, he'd probally throw faster. Everyone for Tavarez is either a family member or just plain stupid.

  1. Please keep Tavarez. He still has some good stuff in his tank! Rumor has it that Colorado has some interest in him. What could they possibly provide the Red Sox in exhange, to make it a good deal for both teams?
