Sox rally

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 11, 2008 09:27 PM

The Red Sox never seem to be out of any game. Even trailing, 7-1, in the third inning, they have rallied for three runs in the fourth to cut the lead to three.

Coco Crisp tripled to lead off when his liner to left kicked past Delmon Young. Crisp showed incredible speed. Kevin Cash, who had a tough time catching Tim Wakefield's knuckleball, singled him in. After Alex Cora stroked a single and Jacoby Ellsbury lined to left, Dustin Pedroia's grounder to short forced the runner at second, but second baseman Matt Tolbert threw the ball away, allowing the run to score.

After David Ortiz walked, Kevin Youkilis hit a sizzling grounder to third that bounced off Mike Lamb's glove and over his head, allowing Pedroia to come around to score Boston's fourth run.
