Sox take early lead

This can't be an easy start for Justin Masterson, following up Jon Lester's no-hitter.

In fact Lester, even talked about it before the game.

"You know what, I wish Buchholz was pitching today because then he could go through what I did last year after he threw his no-hitter. No, I think it's actually easier because you're not expected to do anything. You go out there, you pitch well, and Justin's going to do that. He's a sinker guy and he's going to throw the ball well and he's going to have a good start."

So far, so good.

Masterson has been staked to a 2-0 lead. The Sox scored twice in the second inning. Kevin Youkilis and J.D. Drew singles created a first-and-third situation, and after Jason Varitek walked to load them up, Julio Lugo's sac fly got one run home. Coco Crisp's ground-rule double into the right-field corner knocked in a second run.
