Sox' talks with Rockies on Tavarez still alive
The Red Sox are still talking with the Rockies about a deal for reliever Julian Tavarez. News of the talks, first reported in the Denver Post last week, have not died out, according to a major league source with knowledge of the situation.
The Sox traded Bryan Corey today to the Padres. With Bartolo Colon (oblique) making progress in his rehab assignment in Pawtucket, where he hit 97 m.p.h. on the radar gun, the Sox might be trying to find a spot for Colon.
Tavarez is 0-1 with a 7.15 ERA, but it's been difficult for the Sox to get work for Tavarez. He pitched an inning last Wednesday, but hadn't worked before April 24 before that.

Will be very exciting to see Colon
To me, the most important thing is keeping Hansen on the Big League roster. Perhaps moving Tavarez will assist in this regard. Tavarez is a noble warrior who took the ball whenever asked, but Hansen is the future.
If Hansen's the future, we're in trouble.
Any chance we can throw in Lugo in the Tavares deal?
yup, agree. tavares is a warrior. but if he can't get any innings and he has value around the league, a deal is the right thing to do. i'll miss his emotion (doesn't he remind you a little of garnett?). any ideas on what the deal with the rockies is sounding like for players? prospects?
So sad...... julian such a goof im gonna miss himmm. funny he was on the cardinals and now the rockies!
