Sox win, 5-1

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff May 8, 2008 09:55 PM

Behind some stellar pitching from Josh Beckett -- and his 1,000th strikeout of his career, by Brandon Inge -- the Red Sox took the final game of this four-game set with the Tigers. They won three of the four games, losing only last night in the ninth inning.

The Sox won 5-1, with Craig Hansen and Manny Delcarmen closing out the game after Beckett had departed after seven innings.

We'll see you in Minneapolis.
