Sox with three errors

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 25, 2008 06:36 PM

OAKLAND, Calif. - Julio Lugo committed his 12th error in the eighth inning, on a bad throw to first base on a ground ball by Ryan Sweeney. In fairness to Lugo, he made two nice plays in the fourth to save runs.

Manny Ramirez and Jon Lester (also on a throw) also made errors. Ramirez's miscue, a dropped fly ball to left, accounted for one A's run. Lugo's error did not haunt the Sox, as Mike Timlin did a nice job weaving out of trouble in the eighth.

Last ups for Sox. Huston Street has come on to close it out for the A's.
