Walpole Joe gives McLaren a call

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 27, 2008 08:00 PM

SEATTLE - Seattle manager John McLaren served as a bullpen coach for Joe Morgan with the Red Sox and Morgan never forgot him. In these tough times, McLaren got a phone call from Morgan today to raise his spirits and to give him a basic message -- hang in there and ride out the rough times.

McLaren appreciated the call.

Making a visit in the Sox clubhouse was former catcher and coach Bill Haselman, the man who caught Roger Clemens's second 20-strikeout game in Detroit in 1996. Haselman does some postgame broadcasting on Mariners games.
