CINCINNATI - A few things ...

Terry Francona was having a conversation with Jonathan Papelbon over the comments he made on his TV show appearance on Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight, in which he talked about the brawl with Tampa Bay

Francona said he was going to go look for Paplebon before his meeting with the media. "I'll talk to him," said Francona. 'We didn't need to go there."

Papelbon told the TV station, "Obviously as you can see it's a war when we go play those guys. In my opinion it is a bunch of bull what they did. All I got to say is what comes around goes around. Payback is a bitch. In my opinion, and the way I feel right now, this thing isn’t all settled and done. We still got to play them a few more times and I know when we go into Tropicana things will be a little different than when went in there last time.”

Ken Griffey Jr. was sitting on the couch in the Reds clubhouse not long ago, joking around and kidding around with teammates., When he found out old buddy Sean Casey was in the lineup, he turned to tonight's starting pitcher Aaron Harang and said, "You'd better drill him with the first pitch or you and me are gonna fight in the clubhouse," joked Griffey. The players laughed. Casey was a popular figure with the Reds...

Daisuke Matsuzaka did some long toss work. He'll pitch for Triple-A Pawtucket against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs on Monday. Francona said he would likely throw 70-80 pitches and be on schedule to make his start with the Sox five days later on Saturday vs. St. Louis...

Curt Schilling also threw, but Francona said Schilling wasn't pleased. "Just OK, a blah day. I don't think he was real thrilled about it. Not one of his better days," said Francona...

Jason Varitek was getting to the ballpark late, still feeling the effects of his illness. Francona said Varitek was well enough to be the emergency backup, but not to start....

  1. Good for Paps...he's got a little Pedro in him.

Don't forget that Kyle Farnsworth pitch behind 24's head, either.
