A few things....

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 22, 2008 10:59 AM

We might be getting some weather here at Fenway during the course of the day.

The Sox put out this release this morning:

"The current weather forecast (provided by the Red Sox private weather service, Meteorlogix) in the vicinity of Fenway Park calls for a possibility of scattered rain showers during the afternoon hours.

The Fenway Park gates will open at the regularly scheduled time of 11:35 a.m., and the Red Sox expect that today’s game with the St. Louis Cardinals will begin on-time at 1:35 p.m. However, the Red Sox want to alert our fans to the current forecast and the possibility of delay.

This forecast is of course subject to change as the day progresses. Additional updates will be provided as necessary."

* Daisuke Matsuzaka went through his normal day-after routine. Though this day after has to be a nightmare of going only 1 inning on Saturday. everything seems to be physically fine with Dice-K....

* Other than the grand slam he served to Troy Glaus, Terry Francona was pleased to get Chris Smith some pitching time Saturday. Francona said Smith is the type of kid you root for because of the many injuries he's had to overcome to be where he is.

*Bartolo Colon has not yet received the green light from the medical staff to start his throwing program, but it's expected to come soon.

*Still a week-to-10 days before David Ortiz starts swinging a bat which will be the true test of his left wrist injury.
