Ankiel blunder helps Sox tie

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 22, 2008 04:43 PM

Rick Ankiel took a horrible angle to Coco Crisp's drive to center and he misplayed it into a triple. That led to Julio Lugo's sacrifice fly and a tie game in the eighth.

Ankiel seemed to either over-run the ball or lose it in the sun. The ball bounced all the way to the 420-marker in the triangle. Crisp, who looked back while turning second, was held up at third, but Lugo got him in.
