Beckett out after six

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 4, 2008 09:26 PM

Josh Beckett went six innings, allowed seven hits and one run. He struck out five and walked no one and left with a 4-1 lead. Manny Delcarmen has replaced him in the 7th.

We'll see whether the Sox took him out after 92 pitches for precautionary reasons. While facing the first batter (Upton) in the sixth, he grimaced upon delivering a pitch and the training staff came out to speak to him. It looks as though he might have had some discomfort in his leg. Beckett finished the inning, but normally after 92 pitches he'd come out for the 7th. The team has made no announcement.
