Lowell breaks deadlock

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 2, 2008 09:19 PM

BALTIMORE - Mike Lowell, now on a healthy 8-for-20 streak, broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th with a single to right field against Jim Johnson scoring Kevin Youkilis.

Youkilis started with a walk and moved to second on Manny Ramirez' single to left. After a wild pitch, Lowell stroked his second hit of the game.

Ramirez was caught between third and home was tagged out by catcher Ramon Hernandez on J.D. Drew's grounder to shortstop. After Crisp drew a walk, Cora came up with the sacks full of Sox knocked into a 5-4-3 double-play. Great turn by Brian Roberts, who was taken out by a hard slide by Crisp but still managed a strong throw to first.
