Lugo homers

Posted by Nancy Marrapese-Burrell, Globe Staff June 20, 2008 10:05 PM

Red Sox shortstop Julio Lugo, who has had his struggles in the field tonight, launched a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a 3-2 pitch from Cardinals' starter Kyle Lohse to make it a 2-2 game. It was Lugo's sacrifice fly in the second that led to Boston's first run.

It was Lugo's first homer since Sept. 22, 2007 against Tampa Bay. He had gone 69 games without one. His last homer at Fenway Park was July 20, 2007 against Chicago.
