March 6, 2002: Red Sox interim manager Mike Cubbage (left), accompanied by team traveling secretary Jack McCormack (right) to a team bus.

Manny Ramirez was reportedly involved in a physical incident in the Red Sox clubhouse this past weekend in Houston, but unlike his scuffle with teammate Kevin Youkilis earlier this month, this confrontation was with a Red Sox employee.

According to a report by Sean McAdam in today's Providence Journal, Ramirez shoved Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick (pictured right in 2002 Globe file photo) to the ground in Houston in an argument over Ramirez's ticket allotment of 16 for Saturday night's game.

McAdam reported that several onlookers moved quickly to separate the Ramirez and McCormick, a former Boston police officer who has been the Sox' traveling secretary since 1996.

When McCormick cautioned Ramirez that he might not be able to fulfill his request, Ramirez responded by shouting: "Just do your job!"

An argument insued (sic) and Ramirez pushed McCormick, sending him to the ground.

Later, the two met behind closed doors and Ramirez apologized to McCormick, who accepted the gesture. No further disciplinary action is expected against Ramirez.

  1. When any organization has a poison running through it's veins, that poison has to
be eliminated. Although Manny is a great ballplayer; he was never and will never
be a team player. It was all for Manny. How dare he put his hands on his team
mates and Red Sox employees. Good luck to the Dodgers because Manny will always be Manny. The Red Sox will always be a class act. Manny lacked the class
to be a part of this great franchise. Hope he enjoys the earthquakes.

  1. Manny is an idiot. 25 million for one year. does this fool realize that most people will never make that in a lifetime. I'm unemployed and begging for a job and this asshole is bitching about 25 million being too little.

  1. With all that has transpired with Manny Ramirez in the last few days, it is a shame to say but the boy was probably jacked up on "womens fertility medicine" at the time of the incident with Mr McCormick. People are still making excuses for this waste of skin. It's time they stopped. I hope Mr McCormick and Kevin Y are grinning like Cheshire cats.
