Sox confirm Schilling surgery, will discuss this p.m.

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff June 20, 2008 10:52 AM

Curt Schilling, who in his customary way chose to announce his season-ending surgery on WEEI radio this morning, will not be at the ballpark this afternoon, according to the club, but Sox GM Theo Epstein and manager Terry Francona intend to discuss this latest development before the Sox-Cardinals game tonight. Schilling's announcement comes a week after he last threw a side session for the team--that "plateau" Francona referred to evidently is an abyss, one that may likely signal the end of Schilling's career.

  1. No matter how many RED LIGHT comments are posted here, Curt's a hero to this town, and it saddens me that he will go out like this. I just hope he gets the proper send off to retirement that he deserves.

  1. Curt's a hero to some in this town. Not me.
