Sox increase lead to 7-1

J.D. Drew's bases-loaded walk scored rookie Chris Carter with Boston's fifth run. Manny Ramirez followed Drew against lefthander J.P. Howell and stroked a two-run single to left, scoring Dustin Pedroia and Drew to increase Boston's lead to 7-1.
