Sox take lead on wild pitch

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 14, 2008 04:41 PM

CINCINNATI - Two runs have been gift-wrapped for the Sox in this game.

The second came in the fourth after J.D. Drew tripled to the left-field wall and scored on a Edinson Volquez' second wild pitch, both of which had a hand in the runs.

Volquez, the fabulous young righty, has great stuff. But veteran catcher Paul Bako, considered an excellent defensive catcher, should have made the stop or at least kept the ball in front of him to keep Drew at third.

It's 2-1 Sox as we start the fifth.
