Sox walk to lead

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff June 22, 2008 04:56 PM

After Julio Lugo's sacrifice fly tied it, 2-2, Dustin Pedroia singled and Cards reliever Chris Perez walked three straight batters, including Mike Lowell with the abses loaded, to put the Sox ahead in the eighth inning.

The Sox were aided by what looked to be a bad call on Pedroia's steal of second base. Replays showed Pedroia was out, which would ended the inning. But he was called safe by second base umpire Fieldin Culberth to extend the inning.

Jonathan Papelbon is on for the ninth.
