Timlin to close it out...maybe

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff June 11, 2008 09:36 PM

Mike Timlin has entered to pitch the ninth. Timlin and fellow graybeard Tim Wakefield were honored in a pregame ceremony for being the oldest duo to combine to pitch a shutout back on May 6, when Wake went the first eight and Timlin the ninth in a 5-0 whitewash of the Tigers in Detroit. Team vice chairman Phil Morse did the honors in presenting them a plaque.
Rough start, though, for Timlin, as he surrendered back to back doubles to Aubrey Huff and Kevin Millar to make it 6-2. Paps is warming up.

  1. It has been a great run, and he is a terrific guy.... but can someone please put a fork in Mike Timlin? He's done.
