Trusting his stuff?
With Hideki Okajima coming on in relief of David Aardsma, with Miguel Tejada on first base, this marks the first time in 15 appearances that Okajima has been entrusted with an inherited runner. In that game, on May 14, Okajima allowed a grand slam to Jay Payton.
And it didn't work out so well for the Red Sox this time either.
After a wild pitch put Tejada on second base, Mark Loretta singled up the middle to score Tejada. That puts the Astros up, 3-2.
Okajima has now allowed 12-of-15 inherited runners to score this season. That's a far cry from the dominance he demonstrated last season.
