  1. So Jeter bats second and Dustin ninth?

Even in a meaningless game, that stinks.

  1. I don't understand your logic, CH. Mariano is having a better season than Papelbon but the same does not hold for the two infielders you name. Imagine that Mariano were in the same situation as Varitek - sucking but nevertheless an All-Star. If this were the case, we wouldn't be having this discussion. It's only a discussion because Mariano is doing a great job this season and it's in Yankee Stadium.

  1. Pedroia is lucky their letting him play. Lets not worry where he's batting, it's a pecking order, in big games nobody is better than Jeter

  1. Type your comment here... Francona should have named Roy Halladay as his starting pitcher. Cliff Lee has good credentials but Halladay has been the most dominating pitcher in the game this season (7 CG's won 9 of his last 11) and remember he doesn't get much run support. I have a feeling the National League with all its power hitters will get to Lee early and win the game.

  1. Halladay is the most under appreciated pitcher in the game. It is a shame he plays for the Jays and gets no love from anyone. That being said Lee is having a great season. Its easy to use the "what have you done for me lately," line of thinking. Halladay shutout the Yanks on Friday. Lee began the year 8-0 and was dominant in the first month. I think Lee deserves the nod and Halladay (if he is pitching) is the next one on the mound.

  1. At least their will be competition. When Ted Williams Hit Rip Sewell's ephus pitch for a homer at Fenway Park, it was all for show. And it still sits in my craw.
