Garrett Anderson just wrapped a 1-1 pitch from Beckett around the Pesky Pole in right to give the Angels a 5-2 lead. Anderson drove in Torii Hunter, who drew a lead-off walk from Beckett.

Howie Kendrick kept the hit parade alive by ringing up the ninth hit _ a single to left _ off of Beckett, prompting a call to Manny Delcarmen in the bullpen.

After he gave up an RBI double to No. 9 hitter Jeff Mathis, which made it 6-2, and a single to Chone Figgins to give the Angels 11 hits, Sox manager Terry Francona emerged from the dugout to extricate Beckett from his messy outing.

It was ironic that, after committing three fielding errors, it took a slick piece of fielding by third baseman Mike Lowell, who ranged deep to his left to make a stab and spinning put-out of Torii Hunter to get Delcarmen out of the inning.

Beckett's line: 5-1/3 innings, 11 hits, 8 runs (7 earned), 1 walk, 8 strikeouts, 1 homerun. He threw 100 pitches, 68 for strikes.

The Angels now lead, 8-2, after six innings.
