BIG TRADE FOR SOX? Don't count on it
If anything, you should prepare for the likelihood that whatever the Sox do, it will be relatively minor in nature. Manny Ramirez may have told Jerry Remy he wants to be traded and hopes to find peace, but Manny's tranquility is not a high priority for the Sox these days. They expect to weather this storm, as they have others, and hope that when Friday rolls around, Manny will be sufficiently motivated to play hard--if not for the Olde Towne Team, then for his next contract.
The Manny rumors are still out there--you had Pedro lobbying for Manny coming to the Mets, and the Manny-to-the-Marlins speculation that would never have gotten started except that the Sox reportedly have said they'll pick up his money for the balance of the season. Dodgers? Nope. Phils? Nope. Sox owner John W. Henry and Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria are great pals, at least the last time I checked, but I can't see JWH making such a trade for his fantasy team, never mind the real thing.
Hey, you never say never, but what I'm hearing this afternoon in the Fens is not to expect anything.
There will almost certainly be some buzz in the Sox clubhouse about the Yanks getting Pudge Rodriguez, and Mark Teixeira is meeting with the media right now for the first time as an Angel, but that's it for the time being.
Here are your lineups:
Red Sox
Dustin Pedroia 2B
Kevin Youkilis 1B
David Ortiz DH
Manny Ramirez LF
Mike Lowell 3B
JD Drew RF
Jed Lowrie SS
Jason Varitek C
Coco Crisp CF
Josh Beckett P
Angels
Chone Figgins 3B
Macier Izturis SS
Mark Teixeira 1B
Vladi Guerrero DH
Torii Hunter CF
Garret Anderson LF
Howie Kendrick 2B
Gary Matthews, Jr RF
Jeff Mathis C
Joe Saunders P

Cripes, while the Tigers are out of their tree, how about Thames for Tims?
How about Manny & Lowrie & Hansen & Okajima for Hanley Ramirez???
Nick get real, stop kissing up to the sox front office. They are doing nothing to solve the bullpen issues or the bottom of the order issues. If they wanted to, they could easily. Cashman got three quality guys to fill their holes, and traded just about nothing.
"BIG TRADE FOR SOX? Don't count on it"
well i cant say im surprized. tomoroow will be a sad day in boston as Yankees and Angels make trades and make there teams better while redsox watch them succeed as the sox fail Sox make no moves at deadline while angels and yankees strengthen there teams well all i can say is good luck to the Angels against the yankees in the ALCS OHHHH BOY gaMMONS IS TALKING RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPN's Peter Gammons says the Red Sox and Marlins are engaged in serious talks regarding Manny Ramirez.
Josh Willingham or Jeremy Hermida would be the primary return. Willingham, a right-handed hitter, would be the better replacement for Ramirez this season. However, Hermida is the far more intriguing long-term property, and the Newark Star-Ledger's Dan Graziano reports that talks are focused on him. The Marlins would also send a prospect Boston's way, perhaps Jeff Allison.
Please ask Francona why Drew isn't batting 2nd? He should switch places with Youk. Drew rakes when he plays at the top of the lineup ahead of Ortiz/Manny. Youk can hit anywhere.
manny is not going anywhere! The sox could never replace his numbers. Exceptions are made for exceptional people all the time. Manny's unique
Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval.
Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida, two prospects from the Marlins and one from Boston. What I think is that Boston trade to texas because texas need pitching so give him C. Hansen and D. Masterson for M. Young with Young .300 batting can replaced J. Lugo .260.
And trade if you can M. Ramirez, and J. Lowire for M. Hoilday from the rockies.
Or M. Ramirez for jason bay and a good pitcher

Manny in Florida? Now palmettos will live in his dreads along with all the other insects.
the sox have to trade Manny now...he is a cancer in the clubhouse...just like Nomar was...besides, unless they make a BIG turnaround from the way they are playing, they'll be no playoffs this year...
