Buchholz stays in game

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 11, 2008 08:51 PM

After walking Melvin Mora on a wide 94-miles-per-hour fastball to put runners on first and second, Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell came out to talk to Clay Buchholz.

Farrell left Buchholz in the game, but Javier Lopez is warming up in the bullpen.

He struck out Kevin Millar on a 95-mph fastball to end the inning. Buchholz now has six K's for the game.

Buchholz has thrown 107 pitches, 65 for strikes. In his eight starts for the Sox this season, his highest pitch count was 113 on April 26 at Tampa Bay. In that game, Buchholz pitched eight innings and gave up tow runs on three hits and struck out nine.
