PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- We were waiting to see if good things come in threes, and, at least when David Ortiz is involved, it appears that they do. Big Papi belted his third big homer in as many nights, sending Chris Lambert's fastball out of McCoy Stadium in the bottom of the third.

The pitch came on a 3-1 count with one out and nobody on base, and went flying toward the stands behind right field.

Ortiz has seen seven pitches tonight and swung at three of them. With the home run, his line for the series improves to 3 for 7 (.428), 3 HRs, 4 RBIs, 2 walks, 4 runs, and no strikeouts.

Toledo roughed up PawSox starting pitcher Charlie Zink, who was replaced by Jose Vaquedano after an inning and 2/3 of work. Zink allowed eight hits, including two home runs, on 49 pitches. The Mud Hens scored all nine of their earned runs -- four in the first inning and five in the second -- off of Zink.

Pawtucket salvaged two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Jeff Corsaletti scored from second on a fielder's choice, and Jonathan Van Every doubled on a line drive to right field to bring home Gil Velazquez.

Vaquedano quieted the Mud Hens' bats in the top of the third, and Ortiz accounted for the only run of the inning.

Toledo leads 9-3 in the top of the fourth.
