Daisuke Matsuzaka is in line to improve to 10-1, while his ERA has plummeted to 2.65 on the season, in 16 starts, after he left the game leading 2-0 after six.

Matsuzaka threw 115 pitches, 68 for strikes. He allowed four hits and walked five. He struck out seven and has been relieved in the seventh by Hideki Okajima.
