Greetings from Pawtucket

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 17, 2008 05:25 PM

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Red Sox slugger David Ortiz took six batting practice sessions off Pawtucket manager Rod Johnson. The sessions started at 4:08 p.m. with two-to-three minute breaks between each round. He took between five and seven swings each time and hit 12 home runs, the longest of which was to center field and hit a concession stand roof.

After Ortiz finished his second session, one in which he hit four home runs, Pawtucket strength and conditioning Carl Kochan beamed, "How 'bout that!"
