Hunter thrilled with deal for Tex
Angels CF Torii Hunter hates to see a teammate like Casey Kotchman depart to the Braves, but he's thrilled at acquiring switch-hitting power hitter Mark Teixeira.
"I can't say this was a bad one," said Hunter. "Scary. The potential we have shown offensive has just shown up the last three weeks. But now...scary. This guy can really play. Everyone wanted that extra bat. You got it."
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Teixeira will likely bat third. The Angels announced Teixeira, a former Red Sox draft pick, will play tomorrow night and wear No. 25.
Major league sources indicated the Braves extended a Kevin Youkilis-Craig Hansen offer to the Red Sox but the Sox turned it down.
Scioscia wasn't concerned about whether the Angels were going to re-sign Teixeira, who can be a free-agent. He said, "We're not getting into that yet. All of that will happen in the off-season." Scioscia said he's received glowing reports from all who know Teixeria about how he blends in with a team.
"Casey is a heck of a player, but (Teixeira) puts our lineup in a different perspective," Scioscia said.
Kotchman was gathering up his things and about to leave the Angels clubhouse moments ago.

glad to see the Sox didn't trade Youk. texiera will be around in the offseason and they won't have to give up anybody (besides Manny) to get him.
btw - the Angels are scary now.
Hunter isn't the only one thrilled.
Tic toc tic toc Manny isn't going anywhere!
