Lopez replaces Buchholz to start sixth inning

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 11, 2008 09:02 PM

Clay Buchholz, who is making return debut with the Red Sox after being out with a torn fingernail on his pitching hand since May 12, is done for the night at Fenway.

He pitched five innings and gave up four runs -- all earned -- on five hits while walking five and striking out six. He finished with 107 pitches, 65 for strikes. It was his second most pitches in starts for the Sox this season (He threw 113 at Tampa Bay on April 26).

He was replaced by Javier Lopez.
