Red Sox chairman Tom Werner declined to comment on Manny Ramirez's late scratch from the lineup tonight against the Yankees.

"I just heard about it," said Werner, who said he would wait to talk to Ramirez himself before passing judgment on the situation.

Team president and CEO Larry Lucchino simply said, "No comment," when asked about Ramirez.

Werner and Lucchino, along with principal owner John Henry, huddled together under the center field bleachers and spoke for about 10 minutes before the start of tonight's game. The trio stopped there before heading over to the grand opening of The Bleacher Bar, the new Lyons Group establishment just outside the Fenway Park gates on Lansdowne Street.

  1. Bye Manny hope you enjoyed the 8 years, $160 million, 2 world series rings, a batting title and the undying devotion of tons of Red Sox fans who really didn;t care what you did as long as you produced.

But this latest act of treason is just like Nomar sitting out in Yankee Stadium. He got dumped weeks later, I hope your next.

  1. I have Been a die Hard Bosox fan since I was born in Belmont Ma 34 years ago .... and I know for a fact Manny is a cancer. Yes he is the best hitter (and all that) but he is a Clown. Real Ballplayers can smell this Macho Fake a mile away.
If I could , I would spit wind in Mannys way and hope it catches his eye so he can have a real ezcuse. Honestly Manny , you are a slob, you are a Fake, you are way to carried up in your "Macho 6year old" antics. Do you really think people enjoy playing with you ....or do you ever get the feeling that everyone just appeases you while rolling there eyes? How about you say a prayyer and get hurt for real , for good , so someone younger , someone who loves the game, can show up with dreads and a hole in the glove! Your Number one Manny, can u guess what Finger I am holding up? Love Joe Bruzzese
