Manny, Marlins.....smoke, but any fire?
The Sox and Marlins have indeed discussed Manny, and according to one industry source The Fish have "strong" interest in the Sox outfielder. That has never been the issue with Manny; lots of teams have expressed interest in the past; other than Texas, which was ready to trade A-Rod for him, no one has come close to satisfying the Sox desire for value in return. The Marlins have a lot of good young talent and prospects galore, but while the Sox organization is divided on whether to deal Manny, it's my understanding that no one resists the idea more than John Henry, who still believes Manny gives the team their best chance to win this year.

I understand Manny more than likely wants to get out of Boston, but why? I mean, look at all the pluses; 1) he's got fans who love him here 2) he's got several friends on the team 3) it's a hitters ballpark, making it easier to bask in the heroics 4) the team, the fans, the owners, the media will put up with ALOT of his shenanigans, many of which are actually funny. Many teams won't put up with that cr*p. So, Manny, what gives? You really want to leave all of this behind to play for the Marlins of all teams, or some other suitor? Or are you just bored with Boston?
he might give them a chance but as Jim Corsi used to say it is pitching and DEFENSE that win you ball games not cancerous headaches NAMED MANNY RAMIREZ that win you ball games.. he is definitely talking his way out of boston with the comments about how the red sox " sent nomar and pedro" packing and that htey are doing the same with him come on give me a FUCKING break.. Nomar didn't want ot be here anymore and the sox traded him and we won the series they didnt want to give Pedro that 4th year and look what has happened he has had arm. shoulder and hamstring issues i think in this battle the red sox win HANDS DOWN.. start saying goodbye to MANNY
Cowbells!
I think John Henry has the cart before the horse on this one. It is obvious that Manny is a distraction, and that John Henry would think that Manny is going to give 110% the rest of the season to put the Sox into the postseason, is rather naive thinking. Think about it. That would be like keeping Eric Gagne for him to be a savation to the loss of Curt Schilling. I'd hate to see Manny go, but personally he's becoming a cross for the Red Sox to bear, and the road ahead to MLB's promise land this year is looking like a minefield, rather than the freeway. Deal him now, pay the money (I'm sure Henry can make up for this via Carl Edwards in NASCAR), and we can be done with this. See you next year...but with a new vision for this team!
Whether he likes the ownership or not, he signed a contract in good faith, a contract in which he earns a better wage than any of us schleps posting on this site. Most of us would give a testicle to play for the Red Sox (or any other MLB team...) and it's not like the game doesn't have a lot of history...Why not keep your head down, play the game the way it SHOULD be played and bellyache all off season? I'm a fat 42 year old guy who busted my ass scoring from first on a double earlier tonight. And I did it without cheering, complaining, or getting paid handsomely...I did it for fun.
Crazy that a guy with over 500 HRs and 20 plus in the last 12 years is being shipped out during a pennant race. Although I like the prospect of getting Bay from Pitt to fill his shoes, nobody puts up Manny numbers. Manny Just being Manny is old but so are most of the cloths in my closet but I deal with because the price to change is way to expensive. Whateva, SOCHs talk, happens here I do not want to look back at the end of Sept and see the Dredded Yankee's going off into the playoffs and Manny taking the Marlins with him to the playoffs. We put up with Butch Hobson suck it up for Manny play nice and get to the palyoffs and let the pitching staff stand tall. We do need a reliever, but leave Gagne in Mil, unless his is shooting up somewhere in an ally getting ready for the playoffs.
If we get jason bay, it would be alright, jason bay though is not gonna make a huge difference for My BOSOX!,However, as much as i like manny, i think his antics have gone too far, time to get some young talent. As far as that Marlins trade goes, if Boston gets someone like Josh Willingham or Jeremy Hermidia, then im okay. I dont know, i just think right now it would be hard to get the right value for Manny. A longshot im hoping for is Matt Holliday from the Rockies, but that wont happen.
Being a Marlin Fan, I can tell you that right now the Marlins are playing well enough to make the playoffs without Manny. Making a trade and bringing him in could possibly give them that extra boost to lift them into first, on the other hand, all the media hype might be too much of a distaction to a team thats playing better than average ball. Lets be realistic, Do the sox have any pitchers wanting to jump ship? if so, the Marlins needs are in the bullpen and perhaps defense, last time I checked manny does not have a curve, slider or heat!!!!!!

Manny is nothing but a vicious spoiled brat, getting $20 million a year to play a kids game. Now he is totally distracting the team and is obviously forcing the Bosox to unload him. He's hoping that his valus continues to plummet so the team will unoad him for peanuts. Where would be be without baseball ? Probably smuggling drugs accross our border. I wonder what the Sox did to help him with his initial immigration problems? What an ungrateful SOB.
Simple No Manny the RED SOX are going downnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let the man Manny make is own career decisions....If leaving Boston is what he wants I say go for it......He needs be were his heart is to be happy and play well......I say just don't burn bridges.
As an Indians fan I would love to have Manny back to Cleveland. But lets be real we all know that wont happen
Its understandable that Manny has a negative attitude for the Sox, but his bat is needed in the line up if theres going to be a repeat of the world series. No one will be able to replace Ramirez's in the line up, the Red Sox got to think smart before making a move. Depending on how the organization reasponds to him, maybe his attitude will change a little more positive showing him that the Sox are really there for him and want to keep him in the organization as long as possible. There's no doubt Manny's attitude is way out of line, but is trading Manny the best solution to the problem?
When is everyone going to understand, Manny has the mentality of a 12 year old. He should be handled as such, Fran and Theo should give him his icecream to make him happy. That is if they still wish for him to be a productive member of the team. However it seems as though the Sox have grown weary of his escapades and find it difficult to put up with the SHIT. On the other hand who out side of Boston doesn't Love to see a Sports Center clip of Manny being Manny. Seeing Manny cutting a throw from Damon never gets old.
If he couldn't hit a baseball, he'd be driving a cab back in the Dominican, living in poverty. If you don't like Boston, stop cashing their checks, otherwise, shut up and play.
Get rid of the ungrateful slob and his stupid locks and all the other hinderences he is now causing the Sox. I don't care how they do it....heck, shoot him.....deport him..or whatever....I am sick and tired of the prick....we aren't going to win with him this year...so get the sorry ass out of town and as far away as possible....maybe they can trade him to some minor league team for a bat....no....that wouldn't happen....he isn't worth a good bat.....
Let the man play baseball. Every year it's the same thing, we're going to get rid of Manny, Manny's trouble, let's trade Manny and in the end, Manny's always still with Boston. Let him stay, enjoy his antics (he obviously loves the game when he is not being hassled by the Red Sox and the MEDIA), and maybe they will win a 3rd World Series this year. Good for you, Manny, stand your ground. Some of us know you're worth it.
Manny get RedSox fan two World Series and you want to boo him shame on you.
I am a Red Sox fan and this right here is for the sox fans that boo Manny and want, Boston to trade Manny (1st the New York Y. wound thank u, 2nd just remember how it was with out Manny in the pass 20 years).
whatever manny. if you want to leave the best baseball team then you go right on ahead, but of all teams, why the marlins?!
