Manny tags up, Sox lead 10-1

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 12, 2008 08:20 PM

O's right fielder Nick Markakis made a great diving catch on Kevin Youkilis' fly ball near the right field line. But it was just deep enough to score Manny Ramirez from third base, giving the Red Sox a 10-1 lead in the fourth inning. The 5 RBI is a career-high for Youkilis. He earned four of those in a grand slam in the third inning.

Ramirez reached on a single to right and was advanced to third by a Mike Lowell double.

  1. What's up with the home plate umpire? Has anyone else noticed? He insists on throwing the ball back to the pitcher... not always on target!
