How often do you see a called triple play get turn into an RBI single?

The Twins nearly turned a triple play in the seventh inning, but after further review, the center fielder Denard Span didn't make a clean diving catch on a fly ball from Jason Varitek.

With Sean Casey and Mike Lowell on second and third, Lowell trotted home to give the Red Sox an 8-5 lead. The Twins had thought they turned an 8-4-5 triple play after Span threw to second to Alexi Casilla, who threw to third to Brendan Harris for the second and third outs.

However, the call was reversed. Replays showed Varitek's fly ball bounced into Span's diving glove.

Twins manager Rod Gardenhire argued the call and was tossed for the 40th time in his career and fourth time this season. The play was ruled an RBI single.
