Ortiz walks, done for night

Posted by Steve Crowe, Globe Correspondent July 18, 2008 09:07 PM

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- David Ortiz walked on six pitches in the 7th inning.

He is done for the night as Sandy Madera came in to pinch run for Ortiz.

The game is in a rain delay as the grounds crew is putting the tarp on field. There have been multiple lightning strikes and steady rain.

Ortiz, on deck awaiting his fourth plate appearance, ran back toward the dugout as the lightning began to strike.

His final line: 1 for 2, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 2 BBs.
