PORTLAND, Maine -- Bottom of the first, here at Hadlock. David Ortiz digs in against Broshius for the first time. None on, two out.

Ortiz strikes out in an eight pitch at-bat

He got ahead 2-0, and 3-1, before taking a called strike then fouling off two straight.

Broshius came inside with an 80 mph curveball, which Ortiz took for strike three.
