Seriously?

This game is getting out of hand -- in a good and a bad way.

It's been fun (sort of) to watch both the AL and NL get out of jams in the late and extra innings. But it's getting late and the teams are running out of players, and no one wants to see what happens when George Sherrill doesn't have any pitches left in him.

It's also caused both managers to likely go longer with their catchers than they'd like. Terry Francona burned Jason Varitek, which is why Dioner Navarro was forced to stay in in a situation in which he might otherwise have gotten a pinch runner. Russell Martin has been catching since the sixth inning, even though Clint Hurdle still has Brian McCann on the bench. Hurdle has been far more conservative in his use of players than Francona has.
