Sox deny Sarasota report

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff July 1, 2008 05:21 PM

The Red Sox are denying a report found in the Sarasota Herald Tribune, which says that the team has issued an August deadline for the two sides to agree on a deal that would bring the Sox to Sarasota for spring training.

The Sox are interested in a new spring training site that would marry their major league team and their minor leaguers. The two are currently separated in two sites in Fort Myers, Fla., with the minor leaguers a couple of miles away from City of Palms Park.
