Sox finish sweep of Twins

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 9, 2008 05:44 PM

The Red Sox completed a three-game sweep of the Twins with a dominant 18-5 win Wednesday. It's hard to believe the Sox trailed 3-0 in the first inning, but it's true.

The team set season highs with 18 runs and 23 hits. The previous highs of 12 hits and 16 runs had been done twice this year.

Boston's next game is Friday against Baltimore at 7:05 p.m. Clay Buchholz (2-3, 5.53 ERA) will make his return for the Red Sox while Brian Burres (6-5, 5.07 ERA) will pitch for the Orioles.
