Sox hit back-to-back home runs, lead 2-0

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 12, 2008 07:16 PM

In his first at-bat since missing the last two games with a back injury, J.D. Drew hit his 17th home run -- a solo shot -- into the Green Monster seats. It came on a 97-miles-per-hour fastball from Radhames Liz. His 17 home runs are six more than he had all of last season.

The next batter was Manny Ramirez who hit his 18th home run on the first pitch -- a 98-mph fastball -- into the Red Sox bullpen in left field.

It was the 10th time this season the Red Sox have hit consecutive home runs in an inning.

  1. So how many times has a team won by walk off home run followed by lead off homer the next game? Is there any other way to have consecutive home runs that aren't in an inning?
