Sox reached out to Dodgers.....nothing there

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff July 28, 2008 08:15 PM

A Sox official did touch base with the Dodgers, but L.A. is more focused on getting pitching help. Sure, they'd be interested in Manny...if the Sox took Andruw Jones back, and he's been a colossal bust. The most interesting thing I've heard today is that the Braves and D-Backs are closing in on a deal for Mark Teixeira.

  1. Manny represents over 30% of Sox production in last 3 games...where are they going to replace that production! It will be a long winter if they miss the playoffs, an outcome more likely without him than with him given the current holes in the lineup and bullpen....

  1. along the lines of comment #2, I think Hu, Kuo, Jones, and a prospect and work out some financial amount. I think this works for both teams

  1. anything with JONES is a JOKE. Only Kemp, Kuo, and one or two prospects.

  1. Hey Jimmy.....Kemp, Kuo and two prospects for Manny??? You wouldn't get Kemp straight up for Manny genius.

  1. Jimmy, your high on something and I'm sure it's illegal. Kemp, in any deal that includes Manny would be Colletti's biggest mistake (and, as Cristian has pointed out, he's made a whole mess of them).

Both teams need to get rid of these players (Manny/Jones), but it will never happen. Both are painted into a corner, both players will stay with their teams

  1. You think Andruw has the yips now, imagine what would happen if he had The Green Monster to tempt him--he'd strike out every time! His bat will eventually come back and give him several good years--maybe more than Manny has left. But the Dodgahs aren't going to find anyone to take them off the hook with Jones this year....

  1. all of those trades would have been great-2 years ago. Jones, Hu, and $$

  1. #5 are you crazy why would the Dodgers put Matt Kemp in a deal for Manny who will be a free agent at the end of the year? I think #3 makes a lot of sense but I believe that Hu and Kuo would be the prospects to be included with Jones.
