Sox talking to Braves about reliever
The Red Sox today are talking to the Braves about reliever Will Ohman, who has a 2.84 ERA, 13 holds, and 41 strikeouts (with 18 walks) in 44 1/3 innings pitched this season.
Besides the Red Sox, five other teams are discussing Ohman with the Braves, who are looking for a pitching prospect in return. A logical name that might surface in trade talks with Atlanta from the Red Sox farm system is Double-A pitcher Daniel Bard, who is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 37 2/3 innings pitched for the Sea Dogs this season.

Great. Just what we need. Another rent-a-pitcher that won't make one bit of difference. This team is cooked for the season. Don't trade away the future for someone who will walk away at the end of the year.
Bard for Ohman is a disastrous deal potentially on the level of Larry Andersen for old what's his name, you know the guy who'll go to the HoF in a few years.
Given Bard's potential and the way he has put it together, he should be as untouchable as Bowden or Masterson or Clay. If you want help in the bullpen, just bring Bowden or even Bard up. Why throw away a potential blow-away arm for the pen (who no doubt has much more upside now than Hansen)?
This is a joke right? Farnsworth is erratic and expendable, and while some will say Ivan is 'washed up' he is hitting .295 which ain't bad for a catcher if you know what I mean. I haven't heard anything this ridiculous since Tom Caron pronounced the Yankees out of it in May when they were six games back.
I'de rather them call up Daniel Bard than trade for this Ohman bum who's career era is 4.01. Bard has alot more potential with a fastball that tops out at 101 mph! and he's only 23 yrs old....Plus trading for this bum will not solve our problems or answer the trades made by the angels and yanks!!
You can bet that Will Ohman will be dealt. The question is where will he go.
Why dont the Braves add a prospect like Brandon Jones or Brent Lillibridge plus Will Ohman to the Red Sox for Jon Lester?
i think the braves should try and keep ohman mainly because he is the best lefty relief pitcher we have yes it will be $$$ but hey thats baseball
