Sox trying...but
One major league official just told me the Sox are "stuck in neutral" concerning some of the moves they're trying to make.
Another said, "Nobody's trying harder. They're listening to Manny offers, but the big issue is trying to get a bat back that will protect David Ortiz in the lineup. They're not going to do something stupid just to get rid of him."
That seems to be the consensus at this hour and it changes by the minute.
There's been a lot of discussion on the Florida situation with Ramirez, but neither Jeremy Hermida or Josh Willingham really qualify as hitters who can protect Ortiz in the lineup
The Sox have a lot of feelers out there including for lefties Ron Mahay, Will Ohman and Scott Eyre and likely others. There's some talk by scouts and executives they may be in on Oakland's Huston Street or Seattle's J.J. Putz and have certainly discussed those players with Oakland and Seattle respectively

Type your comment here...Nick stop sucking up to the Sox FO. If they wanted to make a trade they could have, the Yankees have added three quality players for nothing. I do not want to hear they are trying.
Trade for Halladay: he's sick of pitching masterfully for a losing team, the Jays are no threat, and Manny can cools his heals in Toronto.
Somehow I have a feeling a trade for Manny will be made. The Sox did trade Garciaparra a few years back and won a championship. I'm not trying to say that Manny is Garciaparra, but that was a big move at the time.
I don't think the Sox chances of repeating are great if the pitching continues to falter down the stretch, and since Manny probably won't be coming back next year, I'm willing to make a trade.
The sox brass has called it quits. Edes stop brown nosing. Cashman is making Theo look very bad.
Edes by you not posting my comments lets me know you are afraid of red sox brass.
