Veni, Vidi, Vidro

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff July 23, 2008 06:39 PM

Jose Vidro's two-run HR has drawn the heretofore comatose Mariners even at 3 in the bottom of the 6th. Vidro hit a 2-and-0 grooved fastball from Buchholz, who suddenly found himself out of the game when he then walked Adrian Beltre and Jeremy Reed grounded a single.

Justin Masterson is making his big-league debut as a reliever and just whiffed Johjima. If he can get by the Wista Kid, Bryan LaHair, the Sox will be out of the inning.

Three pitches, and see ya later. Masteron punches out two on six pitches. This relief experiment has a chance, no?

  1. So "Gopher" Buchholz coughs up another and Ellsbury continues Sitting Bull's long, sad march to the Mendoza line. Wunderkind Epstein may want to revisit his decision to find help from within.
