Winding down a blowout...

Posted by Baxter Holmes, Globe Correspondent July 12, 2008 09:12 PM

A few things during the eighth inning of Boston's 10-1 blowout of Baltimore...

- O's manager Dave Trembley's ejection in the seventh inning was the third of his career.

- Tim Wakefield gave up one run on two hits, walked two and struck out six in 7 innings. He has gone at least 6 innings with three or less earned runs in nine straight starts.

The two hits is the fewest Wakefield has given up since May 6 when he pitched eight innings in a 5-0 shutout at Detroit.

- Actor Kevin Costner, who starred in "Field of Dreams," and ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale comprised tonight's 37,539 attendance.

  1. Lately the in game blogs have been lacking. For those of us who live outside of NESN coverage and rely on the blogs and ESPN's game casts to get updates, what was Trembly ejected for?
