Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis has opened the Sox lead with a towering grand slam over the Green Monster in the third inning, putting the Sox up 7-1. It was Youkilis' first career grand slam and the Red Sox fifth grand slam this season.

When the count was 3-0 to Youkilis, O's reliever Lance Cormier began warming up, but starter Radhames Liz stayed in the game. The grand slam was hit on a 3-1 count, 95-mph fastball. Liz was taken out after the he walked Sean Casey in the next at-bat.

Up next, Jed Lowrie flied out to right and then the Sox got consecutive singles from Kevin Cash and Jacoby Ellsbury. A double by Dustin Pedroia, who ended his 17-game hitting streak in last night's 7-3 loss, scored Casey and Cash, putting the Sox up 9-1

Liz pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts. He gave up three home runs.
